WILTON — During a local Christmas musical light display nearly $1000 was raised. Funds were recently donated to help the Wilton Area Food Pantry.

Again this Christmas season, Philip and Kim Hilton prepared and offered a public display of lights and music, The Wilton Lights, at their home in East Wilton. During the show, the couple accepted donations for the food pantry from viewers.

They graciously donated $937.68 to the food pantry, said Kitty McDonald, pantry co-coordinator.

“The Hiltons are to be commended for all the work in arranging the display in support of the Food Pantry, as they have done for the past several years,” she said. “This donation will help the Food Pantry stock their shelves with food for distribution to help those needy families in our service area who find it necessary to come to the Food Pantry for assistance.”

The pantry is an ecumenical project that has served people in Wilton, North Jay, East Dixfield and Weld since the early 1990s and is supported by the Wilton Congregational Church, St. Luke’s Episcopal and the United Methodist Church.

Like other food pantries in the area, “The Wilton Area Food Pantry also depends on donations to cover their operating expenses, therefore we are most appreciative of all donations received from various businesses, organizations, as well as individual donations. All of these donations enable us to continue the mission we are responsible for,” McDonald said.
