AUBURN — Two lanes of Washington Street near Roy’s Allsteak Hamburgers will be closed by 7 a.m. Wednesday to repair a collapsed sewer pipe, an official said Tuesday night.

John Storer, superintendent of the Auburn Water and Sewer District, said workers discovered the break Tuesday and began planning for repairs.

By 7 a.m., two of the three lanes near Roy’s eatery will be blocked off to traffic to facilitate the digging, he said. He called it a substantial repair that is expected to take all day and possibly go into the evening.

“We’ll try to get it fixed before snow arrives tomorrow night,” Storer said.
