FARMINGTON — Selectmen voted Tuesday to allow the use of Meetinghouse Park and the gazebo for registration and awards for a Remembrance Walk and Fun Run in May, Town Manager Richard Davis said Wednesday.
The race will be held from 7 a.m. to noon on Sunday, May 20.
Kelley Cullenberg, director of the new race called Hospice House 5K, Remembrance Walk and Kid’s 1-mile Fun Run, requested use of the Park.
In an email to Davis, Cullenberg wrote that she had spoken with police Chief Jack Peck about the possibility of closing the northbound lane of Main Street and rerouting traffic onto Front Street for the event.
Peck did not think that this would present any problems and was very receptive to the proposed race, Cullenberg wrote.
“He also gave me permission to line the northbound lane on Main Street with remembrance balloons that we will remove once the races commence,” she wrote.
