NEW GLOUCESTER — Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Maine will hold its second annual “Winter Family Fitness Day” on Monday, Feb. 20, at Pineland Farms, 15 Farm View Drive.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., free cross country ski and snowshoe passes along with free equipment rentals (while supplies last) as well as free snacks will be offered to those in search of some healthy winter fun. In addition, complimentary gift bags will be given to the first 500 attendees, courtesy of Anthem.

“We strongly feel that physical fitness and exercise are important components of one’s daily routine, no matter what the season,” said Jeffrey Holmstrom, D.O., medical director, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Maine. “From skiing to skating to snow-shoeing, our state offers a wonderful array of winter options and with the proper planning and equipment; Mainers of all ages can safely enjoy a variety of winter sports.”

Pineland Farms offers a broad range of activities aimed at children, adults and seniors. Attendees on “Winter Family Fitness Day” can skate, cross country ski, snow shoe or make use of Pineland’s sledding hill.
