Breastfeeding group

AUBURN — Expectant women and breastfeeding mothers are all invited to a La Leche League meeting to be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 102 Bennett Ave. Babies are always welcome.

This month’s discussion will focus on, “Breastfeeding: Great Beginnings,” which will focus on preparing for nursing baby at birth, establishing and maintaining breastfeeding and adjusting to family life with a new baby. Pregnancy is an ideal time to begin attending meetings, and mothers find continued attendance provides support throughout their breastfeeding experience. Eastern Star

AUBURN — Pine Cone Chapter 26 Order of the Eastern Star will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St.

The chapter will be having Valentines and Landmarks and Obligations, white gowns for ladies, dark suits for men.

Pine Cone has the traveling emblem for District 4, “Star” and her two puppies. Refreshments will be following after the meeting

Danville Grange

AUBURN — Members of Danville Junction Grange will meet at the hall at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9. The program will be presented by the Agriculture Committee. Refreshments will be served at the close of the meeting. All members and guests are welcome.

Cardiac info

LEWISTON — Registered nurse Bill Geurin will discuss “Updates From the Cardiac Cath and Electrophysiology Labs” at the Feb. 9 meeting of Mended Hearts at the Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute in Lewiston.

Mended Hearts, a patient-run support group, is a national nonprofit organization that supports heart disease patients and their families through a visiting program and monthly meetings.

Anyone interested in learning more about Mended Hearts is urged to call CMHVI’s Cardiac Rehabilitation office at 795-8225 or email StroutCh@cmhc.org.

The meeting will take place at 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, in Young Wing First-Floor Conference Room, located near the main entrance to Central Maine Medical Center.

There is no charge for participation.

BUCKFIELD — Evening Star 147 Masonic Lodge of Buckfield will hold a fellowship night at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10.

Any Masons are invited to attend and bring a friend that may be interested in joining. There will be a short program explaining the lodge and questions answered. Ladies are welcome to accompany their husbands.

Following the presentation, refreshments will be served. The lodge hall is at 3 High St. in downtown Buckfield.

Texas Hold ’em

MECHANIC FALLS — Mechanic Falls American Legion Post 150 will hold a Texas Hold ’em Tournament on Friday, Feb. 10. Start time is 6 p.m.

Buy-in is $35 plus $5.

The Legion will also host a Valentine’s dance from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Feb. 11. No cover charge.

Travelers meeting

LEWISTON — Twin City Council 160 of the United Commercial Travelers of America will hold a dinner meeting at Marco’s Restaurant at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11. Reservations must be made in advance by calling senior counselor Robert Blanchard at 783-9471. All members and guests are welcome.

Turner caucus

LEWISTON — The Turner Republican caucus meeting will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at Geiger Elementary School, 601 College St.

Program and registration from 9 to 11 a.m. All registered Turner Republicans are invited to attend. Independents and unenrolled voters may arrive before 10 a.m. to register as republican voters and take part in the caucus.

Anyone interested in attending the Maine State Republican Convention in May as a delegate must attend the caucus.

Wales caucus

LEWISTON — Wales Republicans will caucus Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Geiger Elementary School, 601 College St. There will be a meeting with candidates and guest speakers beginning at 9 a.m. The Wales Town Clerk will be available from 10 to 11 a.m. for unenrolled voters who wish to become Republicans and participate, and the official caucus will begin promptly at 11.

The purpose of the caucus is to elect delegates and alternates to the State Convention, elect representatives to the Androscoggin County Republican Committee, organize for the upcoming election season and cast a ballot in the GOP Presidential Preference Survey. All Wales Republicans are asked and encouraged to attend.

The Republican State Convention is scheduled for May 5-6 in August.
