Red Hat Tea

MEXICO — The Red Hat Mommas of Maine held their January meeting at the “Green Church” with a meal served by the church women.

Poems were read and games were played with prizes awarded. Birthdays were acknowledged and the teapot exchange was made. One new member was welcomed to the group.

A Red Hat Tea will be held at the “Green Church” at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14. The cost of $10 needs to be paid to Isabel by Tuesday, Feb. 7.

The next meeting will be a potluck supper at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, at the Methodist Church. The cost of $3 needs to be paid to Isabel by Friday, Feb. 17. Members are asked to bring a decorated face mask in celebration of Mardi Gras.

Snowmobilers

ROXBURY — The Roxbury Slippery Sliders Snowmobile Club will meet Tuesday, Feb. 7, at the home of Sylvia Touchett.

Heart care

BETHEL — “Caring for Your Heart,” a special program for American Heart Month, will be presented by Dr. Daniel E. van Buren, board-certified cardiologist, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, (snow date Feb. 16) at the Bethel Congregational Church, 32 Church St.

The program is sponsored as a community service by To Your Health of Western Mountains Senior College with the collaboration of Bethel Family Health Center and SAD 44/Continuing Education. Admission is free and light refreshments will be served. For more information, call 824-2053.

Free luncheon

FARMINGTON — Old South First Congregational Church will serve its monthly free community luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11.

The menu consists of meatloaf, mashed potatoes with gravy, peas and pudding.

Class of 1964

Benefit supper

CARTHAGE — A public supper will be held from 4 p.m. until sold out Saturday, Feb. 11, at the town office building to benefit Jo Ann Walker.

A 50/50 raffle will be held following the meal. Many items have been donated for the auction also.

There will be a tome for those who wish to share cherished memories of Jo Ann. A minister will speak of her life at 4:30 p.m.

The cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children under 12.

Valentine banquet

PERU — On Saturday, Feb. 11, at 6 p. m., Friends on a Mission youth group will sponsor a Valentine’s banquet at the United Baptist Church of Peru across from the Peru Post Office.

Follow the candlelit walkway to the door where you will be greeted and escorted into the Social Room. Dine by candlelight while listening to the music of Alan Hutchinson on the keyboard.

Dinner will be followed with a choice of desserts, including homemade pies, cakes, tortes and cheesecake.

Stay for after-dinner entertainment of the Newlywed Game.

All proceeds will benefit World Visions 30 Hour Famine, a project to raise money for the world’s hungry. Every $30 collected will feed a child for a month. Wrestling event

RUMFORD — Hope Association, 85 Lincoln Avenue, welcomes NWA Wrestling on Fire Saturday, Feb. 11. Doors open at 6 p.m. Proceeds from the fundraiser will help cover non-Medicaid reimbursable items and activities for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Hope Association, a long standing partner in the community, provides Community Support Service programs, residential homes, shared living, work supports and community case management services in the Oxford, Franklin and Androscoggin Counties.

Valentines dance

RUMFORD — A Valentines Dance to benefit the Rumford Community Home Alzheimer Unit will take place from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Feb. 11. Entertainment provided by Backlash.

There will be a Chinese auction, 50/50 and munchies.

Advance tickets are on sale now at the Rumford Eagles and Bartash Store at a cost of $7 per person. Remaining tickets will be available at the door.

The annual event is hosted by Rumford Falls Eagles Auxiliary.

Ham dinner

NEW SHARON — A ham dinner will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, at the Masonic Lodge Hall, Route 2.

The meal includes raisin sauce, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, rolls, apple sauce, pies, tea and coffee. The cost for adults is $8, for children 6 to 12 $6, and children under 6 are free. Eat in or take out.

Proceeds will benefit the building fund.

Quilters meet

RUMFORD — Rumford Area Quilters will meet Monday, Feb. 13, at 6:30 p.m. at the Rumford United Methodist Chapel, Linnell Street.

A Valentine-themed square drawing will take place. To participate in the drawing, submit a 12 1/2-inch square that includes red fabric. Show and tell is always a part of the meeting. All area quilters welcome. For more information call 562-7050
