Dog owners have one last day to register their pets for 2012 and avoid a $25 fine.
Dog owners may register at the clerk’s office in their town. In Lewiston, the City Clerk’s office is in City Hall, 27 Pine St.
In Auburn, the City Clerk’s office is in Auburn Hall, 60 Court St.
Dog license fees are $11 for a male or female dog and $6 for a spayed or neutered animal. According to state law, a $25 late fee will be assessed for all dogs licensed after Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012.
Dog owners may also mail in their license renewal information — the dog’s name, the owner’s name, address and phone number and a check payable to their city or town — with a copy of the dog’s rabies certificate to their city or town clerk’s office. The tag for the new year will be mailed back to the owner.
Residents may also register dogs online at www10.informe.org/dog_license/index_on.shtml.
