SUMNER — Pastor Howard MacMullen invites the community to join the members of the Congregational Church of East Sumner in February activities.

There will be two suppers, a winter barbecue on Saturday, Feb. 4, with grilled dogs, burgers and chicken, salads and shortcake, and summer raffle items. Donations are requested. On Monday, Feb. 13, the church will have its second annual Valentine’s Dinner with two reserved seatings at 5:30 and 7 p.m. The three-course meal will have two entree choices. Kathy Saarinen, pastor of the Buckfield Community Church, will be the guest speaker on Feb. 5. The congregation will be honoring Boy Scouts with a brief presentation.

The Rev. Darren Morgan, Associate Maine Conference Minister for Small Church Development, will be the guest speaker on Feb. 12 and will lead a retreat at 11 a.m. A brunch will precede the retreat.

Lunch and bingo will be held at noon Wednesday, Feb. 15. Bingo fee is a can of vegetables or fruit, but not enforced.

The Ash Wednesday service on Feb. 22 will be held at 7 p.m.

The Sumner Food Bank is open to Sumner residents every first and third Monday from 9 a.m. to noon. The church is planning to build an addition to house the Food Bank, which is supported by RCAM, the federal government and contributions from the church.

Sunday services begin at 9 a.m. with Sunday School attending the first 20 minutes and then going to class. Confirmation class is held every other Sunday for grades 7-12.
