LIVERMORE — The snowblower used to clear the sidewalk on the Route 4 bridge over the Androscoggin River was stolen from the town contractor’s Federal Road home on Jan. 6, Administrative Assistant Kurt Schaub said Wednesday.

The matter was reported to the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department immediately upon discovery and to the town’s insurance company, Schaub said.

The machine was removed from an unlocked shed behind the residence.

The investigating deputy was provided with a photo of the snowblower, its specifications and serial number, Schaub said.

The Ariens walk-behind snowblower is distinctive in that it is on tracks, rather than wheels. It was bought new two years ago at a cost of $3,099, he said.

The contractor had to shovel by hand the sidewalk on the bridge.

Anyone who has any information on the stolen machine is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Department at 753-2500.
