FARMINGTON — Farmington Grange, Franklin County Farm Bureau, farmers’ market vendors and other farm businesses are working together to provide additional financial assistance to help Knowlton Corner Farm. A supper and auction will be held on Saturday, Jan. 28, at the Grange Hall in West Farmington.
The menu will include tossed salad; bread; a choice of poultry pot pie, meatloaf and vegetables or vegetarian lasagna; milk, coffee or tea; and desserts. The supper, served from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., will feature locally produced foods donated by area farmers. A number of these farmers participate in the online and/or “live” farmers’ market. Rather than asking a set price for the supper, donations will be accepted at the door.
This event will be the kick-off for the newly renovated kitchen at the Grange Hall. Members of the Grange have been hard at work over the past year or so to update their building and create a community kitchen. The kitchen area is brighter and more convenient to use with some modern equipment and more soon to be on the way.
The auction will begin at 7 p.m. and will feature items or gift certificates from a number of area farms and farm-related businesses. Adrian Harris will be the auctioneer.
For more information or to donate materials for either the supper or the auction, contact Pam Harnden, president of Franklin County Farm Bureau, at 645-2568 or pharnden@myfairpoint.net.
