FARMINGTON — Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that crashed Monday night on Industry Road. The vehicle was reported stolen to Wilton Police after the crash occurred.

Farmington Police responded to the single-car crash at 7 p.m. to find the driver had left the scene.

The vehicle, a 2000 Kia Sophia, received substantial damage after it apparently struck several trees near the Farmington-Industry town line, according to Sgt. Michael Adcock’s report.

Wilton Police received a report that the vehicle was stolen from the Weld Road after the crash, Police Chief Heidi Wilcox said. The owner, who had fallen asleep, questioned whether an acquaintance had taken the vehicle, she said.

Police are not sure if the driver was injured in the accident, Bonnie Pomeroy, Farmington Police secretary said. There were a couple witnesses from nearby homes that came forward.

Charges may be pending, she said.
