Christmas Eve service

WILTON — St. Luke’s Episcopal Church will host its annual Christmas Eve service at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24. The Holy Communion also includes many Christmas carols, and features a chancel drama by noted local actor Michael Cooper. This is a particularly good service for those wanting to experience a Christmas Eve service, but are not familiar with the church. Early arrival is recommended, as the church is usually full at this service.

St. Luke’s will also hold a Christmas Day service on Sunday, Dec. 25, at 9:30 a.m. Sunday’s service will be less formal, a joyful and peaceful beginning for Christmas Day.

Free Christmas meal

LIVERMORE FALLS — The annual Free Community Christmas Day Dinner will be held at The American Legion Post on Reynolds Avenue. The group will serve a full Christmas dinner from noon to 1:30 p.m. All are invited. 

Donations of pies, cookies and other food items are needed. To make something for the dinner or volunteer to work on the meal, call Pam at 897-3072. Delivery of meals is available in the local area.

J-LF Seniors

LIVERMORE FALLS — The Jay-Livermore Falls Seniors met at Murray Hall on Dec. 12, with Shirley Couture, chairwoman, presiding. With 25 members final plans for the Christmas party next Monday was held. Anyone who wants to pay the “rip-off” game at the party must bring a gift worth at least $5. Any member who wishes not to play is welcome to watch the fun.

On the sick list were Mary Lou Legere, Dot Wilson and Marilyn DeSoto. Dora Slovak is also not very well. Maurice Fuller, spouse of member Rita Fuller, has passed away.

George Doiron, with the participation of the members, sang a medley of Christmas songs.

Following the regular meeting a successful Chinese auction was held. The 50/50 was won by Marguerite Slovak. Those attending then enjoyed some delicious refreshments brought by Gail and Pat Laverdiere and some donated by Rita Fuller, followed by cards and games.
