FARMINGTON — A painting bee for the new community kitchen at Farmington Grange will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17.
Farmington Grange has been working hard to get the downstairs finished so people in the community can start processing food. The downstairs has gone through some major changes in the last year and a half. It has been completely gutted then insulated, framed and sheet rocked. A new tankless hot water heater has been installed plus a three bay sink, a hand wash sink and a downstairs bathroom.
Several people have expressed an interest in using the licensed kitchen to process food for sale in the local area and it needs to be finished before it can be licensed. One person wants to get started by the first of the year. The area still needs painting and a thorough cleaning.
The Grange is asking anyone interested in helping to get the kitchen finished to come to the Grange Saturday. A potluck dinner will be served to all at noon, so bring a paintbrush and a dish to share. The Grange Hall is located beside the West Farmington Post Office. The work area will be in the basement below where the Winter Farmers Market is held.
