FARMINGTON — Franklin County commissioners set Tuesday, Dec. 20, for a public hearing on a proposed $1 million budget to cover the unorganized territory in Franklin County from July 1, 2012, to June 30, 2013.

The hearing is scheduled for the next commission meeting, which begins at 9 a.m. at the commissioners office at the Franklin County Superior Courthouse.

The spending plan reflects a $40,702 increase over the current $969,823 budget.

After anticipated revenues of $160,680 are factored in, it brings the tax assessment to $839,845.

The proposed budget is submitted early to the state so that it can be acted on by the Legislature in 2012, County Clerk Julie Magoon said Tuesday during a commissioners meeting.

Some accounts in the spending package are up, while others are down.

Among the accounts that show an increase are NorthStar ambulance service subsidy at $57,029, $7,270 more than the current budget. Fire protection is up by $1,600 to make it $98,830, and reserves are up by $25,000 to make them $126,500. The increase is due to $25,000 being added to start a reserve for Viles Road in northern Franklin County.

The cemeteries budget of $8,609 reflects an increase of $4,654. Most of that is attributed to $4,500 being added to repair the Huff Cemetery fence.

Accounts showing decreases are snow removal, which is $364,858, down $7,500 from the current budget, and waste disposal, which is $100,110, $7,759 less than the current budget.
