LEWISTON — Kylie Dalbec punched in the game-winning goal with 5:20 left in the third period to give Portland/Deering a 4-3 victory over Lewiston (2-1-1) in a girls’ hockey game at the Colisee on Wednesday night.’
The Blue Devils built a 3-1 lead in the second period when Mikaela Brown and Erica Lemieux scored within four minutes of each other. But Portland/Deering bounced right back after Dalbec scored her first goal of the night and Rachel Allen dropped in the tying goal on a Dalbec and Lyndsey Snider assist.
In the first period, Lewiston took command when Erin Elizabeth Hubbard scored on an Ashley Chase assist. But Portland/Deering quickly tied it up when Allen scored her first goal.
Boys’ hockey
Hebron 9, Berwick 0
HEBRON — Ollie Knight-Rouleau turned in a hat trick and Nico Manganiello scored both his goals the third period as Hebron Academy skated past Berwick with a 9-0 victory in a boys’ hockey game Wednesday night.
After the first two periods, Hebron built a 4-0 lead before its five-goal outburst in the third period.
Hebron goalie C.J. Isgur made 18 saves to earn the shutout.
Men’s basketball
Bates 74, Fisher 65
LYNN, Mass. — Seniors Reid Christian and John Squires scored 16 points apiece to lead the Bates College men’s basketball team to their third straight victory, a 74-65 win over Fisher College on Wednesday night.
Ed Bogdanovich, junior Mark Brust and first-year Graham Safford added 12 points apiece for Bates.
Squires added a team-high nine rebounds in 19 minutes plagued by foul trouble, and Safford added seven boards. Sophomore Luke Matarazzo had seven assists and four steals in the game.
