Grange program
AUBURN — Danville Junction Grange will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, when a Christmas program will be presented by the lecturer. Refreshments will be served at the close of the meeting. Members are reminded to bring wrapped toys and games for the Salvation Army. All members and guests are welcome.
Travelers to meet
MECHANIC FALLS — Twin City Council, United Commercial Travelers of America, will meet at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at Bucknam Oaks. Following the business meeting, there will be a potluck supper and gift exchange. All members and guests are welcome.
Surgery information
LEWISTON — Central Maine Bariatrics will host an informational program about weight loss surgery from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7.
Bariatric surgeons and other members of the program’s professional staff will provide a general overview of obesity and weight loss surgery options. The program will include a question-and-answer session.
The free program will be held in the Chairmen’s Rooms on the lower level of the 12 High Street Medical Office Building.

Food mobile
BUCKFIELD — Good Shepherd Food Mobile will be at the Buckfield town hall parking lot from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12. This food mobile is limited to residents of Buckfield and Turner only. If weather is bad, please call 336-2230 to check if food mobile is still due to arrive. There is no paperwork to fill out, or income requirements. If you need food, you are eligible.
Society party
LISBON FALLS — The Lisbon Historical Society will hold its annual Christmas party for members and their guests on Wednesday, Dec. 14, at the MTM Center. The event will include a potluck supper and a “Yankee swap.”
For the potluck supper attendees are asked to bring a dish to share. To sign-up and to ensure an equal mix of appetizers, main dishes, desserts and soft drinks, contact Dorothy Smith at 353-8510 or email LHS.2011@yahoo.com. Coffee will be provided.
For the Yankee Swap, attendees should bring a wrapped, untagged, handmade gift. The gift can be self made or a handmade purchase, and should not exceed $5.
Storytelling and Christmas carols will round out the evening. Wear something red to add to the festivities.

Christmas program
NEW GLOUCESTER — The New Gloucester Bible Church will have a Christmas Program on Sunday evening, Dec. 18.
The church will host a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24. The Christmas Day service will be at 11 a.m. All are invited to attend. For more information, call Pastor Dan at 926-3140.
Pet food drive
LEWISTON — The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society’s annual pet food drop is under way at the Shaw’s Supermarkets in Lewiston and Auburn. The two stores have drop boxes available for donations of pet food and supplies until Saturday, Dec. 24.
The shelter relies on donations by the community. More than 100 pounds of dog food and 70 pounds of cat food are needed daily to feed the nearly 5,500 animals who pass through the shelter’s doors.
The society is located at 55 Strawberry Ave. Anyone interested in learning more about volunteering at the shelter or adopting an animal should call 783-2311 or visit www.gahumane.org. Those wishing may also join them on www.facebook/GAHumane.
