Rencontre meeting

LEWISTON — La Rencontre will meet at 11:30 a.m., Friday, Dec. 2, at the Franco-American Heritage Center, 46 Cedar St. The center will serve cream of vegetable soup, chicken, ham, seafood and egg finger rolls, tossed salad, chips, brownies and beverage. The cost of the meal is $7 per person.

After the meal, the patrons will be entertained by local favorites, Mike Willette and Nel Meservier. Patrons are encouraged to speak only French during the meal in the newly-renovated Heritage Hall followed by entertainment in the Performance Hall.

Willette will have a repertoire of Christmas songs followed by Meservier singing yuletide songs in French.

Everyone is invited to attend La Rencontre and reservations can be made by calling Claudette Violette at 786-6936 or the center at 783-1585.

St. Michael’s sale

AUBURN — A sale of quilts, knitted items, kitchen items, wreaths, children’s room, jewelry, baked goods, silent auction and more will take place from 9 a.m to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at St. Michael’s Parish, 78 Pleasant St.

Candle lighting

AUBURN — The Compassionate Friends (Supporting Family After a Child Dies) will take part in a worldwide candle lighting at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at St. Philips Church, Route 4.

Attendees should arrive between 6:15 and 6:30 p.m.; program begins at 6:45; candle lighting is at 7.

Participants are invited to bring a picture or memento of their loved one. Memorial bracelets and Christmas ornaments will be available for a small donation.

Tree sales

LISBON FALLS — Christmas tree sales to benefit Lisbon/Mt. Ararat hockey will be held from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, Sunday, Dec. 4, Saturday, Dec. 10, and Sunday, Dec. 11, at two locations: Dairy Maid in Lisbon Falls and Dairy Queen in Topsham.
