LEWISTON — Lisbon Street was closed to traffic shortly before 6 p.m. Monday as utility companies scrambled to repair downed lines across at the intersection with North Lisbon Road.

According to police, a tall box truck snagged high tension wires strung across the roadway, pulling down the wires as well as a utility pole near the Liberty Mutual office.

The road was closed to allow Central Maine Power and other utility companies to fix the lines.

Some traffic was being detoured to Westminster Avenue through the industrial park, and other traffic was diverted via Webster and Old Greene roads.

Buildings near the accident scene lost power after the 1:45 p.m. incident.
