PARIS – Registration for the University of Maine System spring semester has begun at Western Maine University and Community College Center. Spring semester courses begin in January.
Each semester, WMUCC offers local access to hundreds of courses from the seven universities of the UMS. Courses are taught by faculty on site, online and via interactive television and videoconference.
At WMUCC and at local site at Telstar High School in Bethel, students can take courses leading to associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees in a variety of disciplines, including business administration, mental health and human services, financial services, library and information services, nursing and more. Shorter-term certificate programs also are available.
In addition to courses, WMUCC offers a full range of support services. Center advisers provide career counseling and assist students with financial aid applications, course registrations, book orders, computer access and more.
Financial aid and scholarships are available for qualified students.
Nikki Abbott, director of WMUCC, encourages those who are thinking about taking a course or exploring degree programs to contact the center as soon as possible. “Now is good time — before courses begin to fill — to prepare for the upcoming semester,” said Abbott. “We can help students select from a wide variety of courses that best fit their goals and schedules.”
