FARMINGTON — Mt. Blue High School will be closed Friday because of a threatening note found there earlier this week.

The threat indicated a potential issue Friday, RSU 9 Superintendent Michael Cormier said, so he decided to close the building and hold classes at other schools.

The administration and the Farmington Police Department have investigated since the note was found, but no suspect has been identified, Cormier said.

Police will bring search dogs to the school Friday, he said.

The closure means construction on the $64 million renovation/addition at Mt. Blue will be halted Friday to ensure workers’ safety, Cormier said. Some might come back on Saturday.

The building remained open Thursday night for parent/teacher conferences but was closed afterward.

A letter was sent home with students Thursday night explaining the relocation of students and staff for the day:

* All 11th- and 12th-grade students riding buses should get off the bus at Mt. Blue Middle School on Friday morning.

* All ninth- and 10th-grade students riding the bus should get off at Cascade Brook School.

* Students who drive their vehicles to school should go to Mt. Blue Middle School and park in the bus parking lot.

From Cascade Brook School, 10th-graders will be taken to Academy Hill School for the day and ninth-graders will remain at Cascade Brook School.

Both 11th- and 12th-graders will remain at Mt. Blue Middle School for the day. Students in those grades who attend Foster Technology Center but don’t have vehicles will be transported to the Foster Technology Center Annex on High Street. Those with vehicles can drive directly to the annex Friday and remain there.

All students will be transported back to the middle school to take regular buses home.

Lunch will be provided for all students.

The letter advises parents who don’t want their children to attend school Friday to email kporter@mbrsd.org or send a note with the student Monday morning.
