Farmington Fire Rescue Deputy Chief Clyde Ross used a portable command center during Monday’s sawmill building fire in New Vineyard. The Farmington Department received a grant from the Maine Municipal Association Risk Management Services. The center can be set up anywhere and lets firefighters keep track of firefighters in the building, what departments and what type of fire trucks are on the scene, Ross said. Farmington Fire Rescue Chief Terry Bell said Tuesday that that center cost $1,255 and the Department paid a third of the cost.
