LEWISTON — Olive C. Chapman, 92, a resident of Centre Road, Wales, died Monday, Nov. 14, at Marshwood Health Care Center.
She was born in Sabattus, Nov. 1, 1919, the daughter of Walter and Nellie Halliday Cook. Olive graduated from Sabattus High school at the age of 15, and was also valedictorian of her graduating class.
On July 28, 1940, in Greene, Olive and John Varney Chapman Jr. were married. John passed away in 1998. Olive worked in the office of Bates Manufacturing and retired in 1976. She enjoyed her grandchildren, gardening, reading, sewing, knitting, she was a great cook and baker and her cookie jar was always full. She was a member of Wales Presbyterian Church for many years.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and John Mansur of Wales; two grandsons, John M. Mansur of Wales and Adam T. Mansur and his companion, Sarah Sillin, of Takoma Park, Md.; and her best friend, Carrie Jenkins of Auburn.
She was predeceased by her husband, John V. Chapman Jr.; and two brothers, Elwood J. Cook and Walter Cook Jr.
