JAY — The Jay High School Class of 1961 held a 50th class reunion at LaFleur’s Restaurant on Sept. 24. Twenty-five of the 53 original classmates who started high school together as freshmen attended.

Decorations furnished by Lois Beechum and flowers by Ron Couture were in autumn colors. A table was set up with a flower bouquet, photos, yearbooks and memorabilia. Ray Ouellette furnished music and videos of previous class reunions. Rev. Robert Plaisted brought a short video of the 1961 class graduation that was viewed by all.

Social hour was held, followed by a buffet supper. Plaisted, a classmate, gave the blessing and offered a moment of silence for departed class members: Daniel Brougham, Janice Foster, Robert Hebert, Donna Bryant Wuori, Georgette Nolette Jewett, Jean LeBlond Corcoran and Leila Forbes Viles. Rodney Ellingwood was master of ceremonies.

Those attending the reunion were Fidele Legere, Indianapolis, Ind.; Robert Chabot, Blaine, Minn.; Rosine DiPompo Dolinski, East Palatka, Fla.; Donna Beaulieu Desrosiers, Manchester, N.H.; Ron and Paula Metcalf Olesen, Pittsburg, N.H.; and Albert and Janet Perry, Littleton, N.H.

Those attending from Maine were Rev. Robert and Mrs. Susan Plaisted, Bridgton; Lois Morse Beechum, Lisbon; Vincent Drottar, Hampden; Ron and Marge Coulombe Lindhom, Belgrade; Frances Hines Tilton, Temple; Rodney and Margie Ellingwood, Wilton; and David and Patricia Moore, Livermore. The following were from Jay: Gene and Jacquie Allaire, Linda Romano Bonnevie, Ronald Couture, Sharon Farrington, Bob and Pauline LeClair Roy, Julie Legere Smith, Keith and Shirley James Cornelio, Sandy Mosher Snowden, Ray and Patty Ouellette, Rene and Geraldine Pomerleau Bibeau, Cleo Robinson Roy.

Each classmate received a white key chain with a tiger head and the person’s name printed on one side and “Jay High School, Class of 1961, 50th Reunion, Sept. 24, 2011,” printed on the other side with a picture of the school building as it was in 1961. Also, tickets were drawn and door prizes provided by the reunion committee were given out by Sandy Snowden and Rodney Ellingwood.
