HEBRON — Following up on a tip, police staked out the Town Office on Saturday night and arrested Daniel Ouellette, 48, of Lewiston on his way out of the building.

“Ouellette attempted to flee when troopers announced themselves and was tackled to the ground and taken into custody,” State Police spokesman Steve McCausland said in a release.

He was charged with burglary, criminal mischief and violating bail from an earlier burglary charge. McCausland said Ouellette got into the Paris Road building by allegedly breaking a rear door.

“He broke in to steal items, but came up empty-handed,” McCausland said.

Ouellette was arrested at 7:15 p.m. and taken to the Androscoggin County Jail.
