FARMINGTON — On Sept. 15 SAVES held its first night of wine, food and music to raise funds for the organization. Six wines were poured, food was passed around and the music of Talisker was enjoyed by around 50 guests in the Holman House.
The food was prepared by Farmington’s own Simple Gourmet, Dick Giard, featuring various cheeses, both goat cheese and artichoke bruschetta and stuffed mushrooms. For something sweet dark chocolate leaves from The Candy Shoppe were paired with red wines.
“It was engaging, it was elegant, it was social, it was everything the event needed to be,” said Judy Rawlings, executive director of SAVES. “We raised money and awareness of an important issue while still having a wonderful time and engaging the community.”
The money raised will go to continuing the work SAVES does within the community, including school advocacy, support groups and education. For more information find SAVES on Facebook, on Twitter at @savesmaine or at their website, saverapecrisis.org.
