LIVERMORE — Rene Grondin, president of the Brettuns Wheelers ATV Club, announced Tuesday that local ATV trails are closed to through traffic due to continued high-water levels on several portions of the trails.
The trail from Crash Road to Meadowview in Canton is being inundated by beaver dams. The trail from the Crash Road back to Berry Hill is saturated and low-lying parts are under several feet of water. A blocked culvert on Boothby Road, Route 108, has flooded the trail that runs from Boothby Road to the Norlands Road.
In addition to those problem areas, work will be started on the bridge behind Oberton’s house on Route 4 on Nov. 20. This will be a joint ATV and snowmobile club work party and volunteers are welcome. The work detail will meet at 8 a.m. Anyone with questions or wishing to volunteer can call Grondin at 897-5501, or Mike Perry at 897-6146.
He also noted that several landowners requested that the trails through their land be closed for hunting season. The combination of landowner requests for hunting season closure and the unusually high water levels is the stimulus for the trail closure.
A potluck supper was held at the October meeting and all agreed that the club should have more potluck suppers when the Livermore Community Building reopens in May 2012.
Club meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at the Grondin home located at 178 Gibbs Mill Road in Livermore.
