YARMOUTH — Glennis Mae (Morrill) Wilkinson, 96, of Gray, passed away on Nov. 1.
She was born June 3, 1915, in Naples, a daughter of the late Rupert and Tressa Morrill. She was a graduate of Pennell Institute in Gray, Class of 1934.
She married William Wilkinson Jr. on Nov. 22, 1935, and they had 56 years of wonderful marriage until Bill’s passing in 1991.
Glennis worked in the shipyard during World War II as a spot welder, Hansen’s Farm, for many years at Dry Mills Store in Gray, and as a caregiver from Mr. Sayward. Glennis and Bill spent most of their married life, living and raising their two children at the Game Farm, where Bill worked for the state of Maine for 43 years, (now known as the Maine Wildlife Park.)
Glennis enjoyed golfing, knitting, sewing, dancing and playing Scrabble, but mostly spending time with her family.
She is survived by her loving son, Thomas J. Wilkinson of Gray; grandsons, Scott Liberty and his wife, Olenia, of New Gloucester and Randy Liberty of Gray; granddaughters, Michelle McAtee and husband, Doug, of New Gloucester and Darlene Copp of Falmouth; six great-grandchildren, Miekal, Cassie and Kylee Liberty and Morgan, Connor and Bailey McAtee, all of which adored and will miss their Nana so much!
She was predeceased by her parents; brother, Rupert Morrill Jr.; loving husband, William Wiilkinson Jr.; wonderful daughter, Sally Wilkinson Hodgkin; and infant son, William Wilkinson III.
