NORWAY — Morrell “Pete” Baxter Gray Jr., 68, of Minot passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 26, at Stephens Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

He was born in Boothbay, Nov. 4, 1942, the son of Morrell “Pete” Baxter Gray Sr. and (Herminie) Maude Howell Gray. He graduated from Boothbay Regional High School, the University of Maine and the Maine School of Commerce in Auburn.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war, while in the service, he studied photography. Once discharged, he owned and operated a photography business for many years before his illness.

He enjoyed bowling and playing the drums. In his younger years, he enjoyed sledding, sliding and boating. He was a good man.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannette (Harris) Gray of Minot, whom he married on Jan. 26, 1974; a son, Andrew J. Gray, Sgt. 1st Class, U.S. Army of Arizona; a daughter, Bethany J. Morrissette and her husband, Ray, of Auburn; two grandsons, Mason and Kolten Morrissette; a sister, Elizabeth A. Welsh of Newburn, N.C.; a nephew, Thomas Welsh; three nieces; a nephew; five great-nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Arthur Harris of Minot; and a sister-in-law, Judith and Thomas Goss of West Poland.

He was predeceased by nephews, Kenneth Welsh and David Welsh; two brothers-in-law, Preston Welsh and Kenneth Harris; and his in-laws, Arthur and Jeannette Harris.
