PARIS — Selectmen have released a list of the roads most in need of repairs.
Ryerson Hill Road, the condition of which raised the ire of residents at the Oct. 10 meeting, is near the top of the list, after Elm Hill Road and the section of Paris Hill Road south of Ryerson Hill Road.
The list was compiled by a computer program that takes into account the level of damage and the road’s traffic.
Copies of the full list, which includes estimated repair costs and recommended repairs, are available at the Town Office. The list will serve as a discussion point at the Oct. 24 public hearing on road repairs. Town Manager Phil Tarr is set to make a recommendation on how to proceed.
Road repairs will require taking out a bond, an action voters must approve at a special town meeting on Nov. 14. According to a worksheet selectmen shared, a $3 million bond would raise the tax rate by $1.17 in 2013 and slightly less in subsequent years.
That would pay for repairs to Elm Hill Road, Paris Hill Road, Ryerson Hill Road, Brett Hill Road, King Hill Road, Streaked Mountain Road, Twitchell Road, Bisco Road, Cobble Hill Road, Old Route 26 and Mt. Mica Road.
For about half that amount, the town could repair Elm Hill, Paris Hill and Ryerson Hill roads.
The public hearing will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the Paris Fire Station before the Board of Selectmen meeting. Based on feedback there, the board will form a recommendation for a special town meeting on Nov. 14 when residents will vote on how much to spend on road improvements.
