WALES — Theatre in the Woods, Oak Hill High School’s drama club, will present the seasonal classic “Dracula” on Oct. 28-30.
The play, dramatized by Hamilton Dean and John L. Balderston, was adapted from the well-known novel by Bram Stoker. In this particular version, Lucy Seward (played by Emily McLean), whose father (Kenyon Fraser) is the doctor in charge of an English sanitarium, has been stricken by some mysterious illness. Dr. Van Helsing (Elijah Washburn), a specialist, believes the girl is the victim of a vampire, a type of ghost that roams about at night, sucking blood from its victims. The vampire is found to be Count Dracula (Chris Jones), whose ghost is finally laid to rest in a striking and novel manner.
Completing the cast are Patrick Caskin as Jonathan Harker, Miss Lucy’s fiance; Joe McGeoghegan as Renfield, Count Dracula’s slave; Gwen Fraser as the maid; Travis Burnham as the attendant; and Abigail Bossie, Kaitlyn Doyle, Cassidy Stevens and Kayla Gayton as Dracula’s “brides.” Lucy Rioux is director with technical direction provided by Helen Sherman.
Performances will be at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 28-29, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, at Oak Hill High School. Tickets, $6/$4 for students and seniors, will be sold at the door. For reservations, call 582-5717 or email lucyrioux@gmail.com.
