FARMINGTON — A New Sharon man was injured Tuesday after he laid his motorcycle down on Wilton Road to prevent an accident.

Ronald Begin, 52, was traveling in the left lane toward Hannaford Bros. plaza and didn’t notice a car stopped with its blinker on to turn into Touch of Class, officer Wayne Drake said.

He attempted to go around the stopped car but there was a tractor-trailer in the right lane so he laid the bike down, Drake said.

He injured his shoulder and hurt his foot, he said.

NorthStar Emergency Medical Services put Begin on a backboard and took him by ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital.

Drake was assisted at the scene by Sgt. Darin Gilbert and Farmington firefighters.
