FARMINGTON — Three Mt. Blue High School cheerleaders have been nominated and selected to participate in CheerHawaii USA.
The chosen cheerleaders, Laura Dunham, Macey Smith and Caley Miranda, all juniors this year, have been involved in cheering since the third grade. They are all honor roll students and junior coaches in the Mt. Blue Area Youth Cheering Program. They are teammates for the Mt. Blue football, basketball and competition cheering teams.
CheerHawaii USA is an opportunity for cheerleaders to experience a unique blend of college prep cheer instruction with an Hawaiian experience. Cheerleaders are selected according to their leadership qualities, cheer skills, positive attitude, ability to work with others and academic standing. Mt. Blue has sent cheerleaders eight out of 10 years CheerHawaii USA has been in existence.
The girls need to raise the camp tuition of $2,445 on their own. This amount does not include airfare. The experience is not a school sponsored event. The event does include ground transportation, accommodations, all meals, camp instruction and materials, visits to Pearl Harbor Memorial, Polynesian Cultural Center and other sites.
