BETHEL — Oxford County businesses plan to show off their products and services at the Oxford County Business Expo and Taste of Oxford County on Oct. 29.
The Bethel Area Chamber of Commerce is organizing the event for the fourth consecutive year, which has originally only been available to Bethel businesses. This year the chamber has opened it to all of Oxford county.
Nearly three dozen companies have registered and space is still available for others. The Chamber is hoping to fill all 50 booths for the day.
“We would like the businesses in Oxford County to think of themselves as part of a regional economy,” Robin Zinchuk, executive director for the chamber, said when asked why they chose to include all of Oxford county.
Participating businesses have often had raffles and giveaways and the first 200 people through the doors will receive a free gift from the Bethel Area Chamber of Commerce. Last year’s event drew approximately 500 people.
A featured raffle from Cross Excavation includes one cord of firewood delivered.
A taste of Oxford County is also included and in the past has drawn a huge crowd. Area restaurants, including Crosstone Restaurant and Conference Center in Woodstock and Rooster’s Roadhouse in Bethel, will be serving up items from their menus.
Zinchuk said she heard feedback last year that it wasn’t just about the number of people who attended but rather the quality of the conversations vendors had with prospective customers.
The event will be presented by Norway Savings Bank with sponsors United Insurance, Sun Media, Northeast Bank, Turner Publishing, W.J. Wheeler & Co., Saunders Bros. WoodGems, Western Maine Property Protection, Arsenault’s Satellite TV and Western Maine Supply.
The Expo will be held Oct. 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Telstar Regional High School on Route 26 in Bethel. Businesses interested in participating are encouraged to contact the Bethel Area Chamber of Commerce at 824-2282.
