Pomona Grange

MINOT — Members of Androscoggin Pomona Grange will meet on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at West Minot Grange for a 6:30 p.m. supper. The meeting at 7:30 will include the conferring of the fifth degree. There will be a 50/50 raffle and an attendance drawing. If any pomona grange has candidates for the fifth degree, they are welcome to come and take their degree. All members and guests are welcome.

Duplicate bridge

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club held its quarterly Club Championship Game on Sept. 27 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Overall winners were Linda Leotsakos and Jan Arey. North/South winners in Flight A were: first, Kathleen Burden and Mary Anne Trafton; second, Richard Balian and Peter Cummings; third, Claire Lyons and Lucille Bilodeau. Flight B winners were: first, Kathleen Burden and Mary Anne Trafton; second, Richard Balian and Peter Cummings.

East/West winners in Flight A were: Linda Leotsakos and Jan Arey; second, Fred Letourneau and Jeanine Kivus; third, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe. Another game will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, at the center.

The club met again and another quarterly Club Championship Game was held on Sept. 28 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Overall winners of the event were John Hackett and Patricia Quinn. Placing second were Ron and Connie Reynolds and third were Lucille Bilodeau and Lucille Theriault. Another game will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5. Cribbage League

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Sept. 29 were, first: Hope Hughes and Bob LeClair; second: Pat Records and Paul Weiss; third: Elaine Lebel and Ron Jean; fourth: Betty Ames and Gary David; fifth: Terry Chambers 2 player table.

Burnt Meadow

SABATTUS — Burnt Meadow Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, will meet at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at the home of Mrs. Marion Spear.

Information will be passed on from the state fall meeting to chairmen of committees. The regent will give a brief report of the Sept. 10 meeting and the talk of the president general.

The program will be the retelling of an incident in the recent naval history of Boston Harbor.

Breakfasts return

AUBURN — The Capt. Frank W. Hulett VFW Post 1603 on 588 Minot Ave. will again hold post breakfasts for the public starting Sunday, Oct. 9, from 8 to 10 a.m.

WALES — Lakeside Chapter #60, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the Masonic Building, 322 Centre Road.

Lakeside Chapter will honor the station of secretary and treasurer and the grand officers have been invited.

There will be light refreshments after the meeting. All members are invited.

Harvest fair

DURHAM — The First Congregational Church will hold its Harvest Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15. There will be home-baked goods and candy, harvest bounty from the garden, fresh popcorn, crafts specialty items and a 50/50 raffle. Starting at 11 a.m. a hot luncheon will be served.

A public auction will be held with auctioneer Peter Hunter. The church is looking for auction donations of new or lovingly used items as well as donated services.
