Wednesday evening there will be a parents’ meeting at the Lewiston High School at which all parents are urged to be present, especially the fathers. There will be a brief musical and literary program and then the ways in which the parents and teachers can cooperate will be discussed.

50 years ago, 1961

Incorporation papers of Pilots Incorporated, Lewiston, were filed yesterday at the Androscoggin County Registry of Deeds. The group, headed by Roger Labrecque of Lewiston, is authorized to promote, develop and publicize aviation. It is a social and charitable organization

Roger Labrecque is the president, Robert Pacious, treasurer; and Francis Geiger, secretary and clerk. Other members of the board of directors are Omer I. Girardin Jr., Roland Maheu, Aline D. Longtin and Constance R. Maheu.

25 years ago, 1986

Students in the migrant program at Leeds Central School released “peace balloons” Thursday morning in a ceremony helping to celebrate the United Nations’ designation of 1986 as the International Year of Peace. The balloons each took aloft a personal peace message written by the students. The youngsters have been studying war and peace, and have designed their own T-shirts with peace themes. The pupils involved were Stan Kemp, Samantha Moore, Katrina Nutt, Nioka Boivin, Jeramy Hafford, Billy Moore, Derrick Nutt, Travis Boivin, Michelle Boivin and Torey Myshrall.
