JAY — The Daughters of Isabella Circle #677 from St. Rose of Lima returned to work Sept. 14 after a two month break. The meeting began at 6:30 by regent Laurie Gagnepain. The chancellor Laurieanne Castonguay lead everyone in the restoration of the rosary. A ceremony for deceased members Margaret “Peggy” McDonald and Marie White was held with the draping of the charter.
Recording secretary Louise Chandler read the minutes from June’s business meeting. Louise then read thank-you cards that she received. There were no new membership and no transfers. There was one resignation from Denise Ouellette. Membership on Wednesday night totaled 155 Daughters.
Gagnepain read a letter she received from state regent Beatrice Dostie; she also received a letter from state vice regent Jackie Dostie Smith.
Gagnepain spoke about upcoming events. Oct. 1 is the fall bazaar, Oct. 8 is fall clean-up at the Holy Cross Cemetery, Oct. 9 will be rehearsal for the installation of new officers. Oct. 12 will be meeting and installation of new officers. Oct. 16 is the Living Rosary; anyone wishing to join can come to the parish hall at 1:30 to organize. Rosary will be at 2 p.m.
Oct. 23 will be anointing of the sick; everyone will meet at the church for 3:30 mass and anointing. Nov. 4 will be the mass of the deceased for members of Daughters of Isabella and the Knights of Columbus.
Officers to be installed on Oct. 12 after the October business meeting will be as follows. Regent, Denise Rodzen; vice regent, Dorothy Morgan; past regent, Laurie Gagnepain; recording secretary, Olive Couture; treasure, Louise Chandler; financial treasurer, Annette Melanson; scribe, Kim Couture; 1st auditor, Shirley Couture; 2nd auditor, Maryette Castonguay; 3rd auditor, Beatrice Moreau; custodian, Elaine Castonguay; monitor, Irene Castonguay; chancellor, Laurianne Castonguay; banner bearer, Dora Nickless; 1st guide, Louise Buzzell; 2nd guide, Linda Ouellette; inner guard, Karen Daniels; outer guard, Amy Ouellette-Newman; musician, Louise Parker; social, Dianne Maurais; and committee, Shirley Couture, Laurianne Castonguay and Annette Melanson. Positions are held for two years.
