ANDOVER — Andover’s 16th photo contest was held Aug. 6 in the Town Hall. There were 390 photos exhibited, 76 more than last year, and a record number. The contest, part of Olde Home Day, was competitive as usual, and very professional.

Maine town contributing were Albany, Andover, Bethel, Carthage, Hanover, Hartford, Mexico, Peru, Readfield, Roxbury, Rumford, South Portland and Turner. Other states contributing were California, Georgia and Washington. More than 190 ribbons were awarded.

Major winners were as follows.

Best of show: John Walker, age 13, Bethel.

Landscape grand prize; Corinna Roy, Roxbury, and Blanche Lyons, Mexico.

Animal grand prize: Karen Ellis, Mexico.

Portrait grand prize: Paula Lee, Andover.

Black & white grand prize: Kala Peeples, Carthage.

11-16 years grand prize: John Walker, Bethel.

10 years and under grand prize: Alek Gorman, Peru.

Tim Akers of Andover, Kelly and Ray Lyons and Blanche Lyons of Mexico collected and distributed photos to their proper tables. David Belanger, Casey McDonough and John Foster set the photos for viewing. John Foster, David Belanger, Bruce Simmons and Brad Thibideau monitored during the exhibiting hours. Savanna Sessions and Susan Merrow typed and printed the names. Tim Akers disassembled the exhibit, and Casey McDonough placed the rules in stores and newspapers.

The 2011 exhibit is the last exhibit Angelo J. Kaltsos will judge.
