LEWISTON — U.S. Army Specialist David A. Vincent has returned to the United States following a year-long deployment to Afghanistan.
The former Lewiston-based attorney and Lewiston Planning Board member served as a combat engineer with Sapper Company, Special Troops Battalion, First Brigade Combat Team, Fourth Infantry Division, primarily performing route reconnaissance and clearance in the area of Bala Murghab, Badghis Province.
While deployed Vincent earned the Army Commendation Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the NATO-ISAF Medal, the Combat Action Badge, two Overseas Service Bars and was inducted into the Order of the Combat Spurs, having been attached to Bravo Troop, 7th Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment during combat operations. Vincent has also been awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War On Terrorism Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.
Vincent, who has served two years on active duty, is based out of Fort Carson, Colo., and planned to visit Maine on leave during the month of August.
