PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — A 29-year-old Massachusetts man has been indicted on two counts of murder in Maine for allegedly killing his ex-girlfriend and his longtime friend in July.

Joel Hayden of New Bedford, Mass., is charged with fatally shooting 27-year-old Renee Sandora and 28-year-old Trevor Mills of New Bedford outside the mobile home in New Gloucester where Sandora lived with her and Hayden’s four children.

Sandora’s parents told investigators that Sandora had kicked Hayden out of their home, and that she told them that Hayden had accused her of having a relationship with Mills.

Hayden is being held without bail. He did not enter a plea at his initial court appearance three days after the shootings.
