FARMINGTON — The first Walk MS Farmington is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Farmington Community Center, 127 Middle St., in support of the work conducted by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
“Walk MS Farmington is part of the ongoing effort to create a world free of multiple sclerosis for more than 4,000 Maine residents who currently have MS,” said MS Society Development Coordinator Steve Faloon. “This event is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together to raise funds and celebrate hope,” he added. “As the first annual Farmington Walk we’re also looking forward to a strong show of support from the community to help get this event off to a great start.”
Walk options of three miles and one mile make it possible for a wide range of individuals to participate. Walkers agree to raise at least $25, but many walkers easily average more than $200 raised during the event.
Funds raised through Walk MS Farmington will help provide programs, services and advocacy for the 4,000 people in Maine diagnosed with MS and their families. In addition, this event will help fund hope for the future by providing essential resources to the scientists and researchers who are working to find a cure for MS. Multiple Sclerosis.
To register visit walkMSgne.org or call 800-344-4867. Those who wish can also register the day of the event. Registration begins at the Farmington Community Center at 9 a.m. Breakfast and lunch will be served.
