Free dance lessons

PARIS — The Swingin’ Bears Square Dance Club will offer three square dance lessons to those who wish to give square dancing a try. Ray Hilton of Saco will be the teacher. The first lesson will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at the Oxford Hills Middle School, Pine Street, South Paris. The lessons will be intermingled with workshops for experienced dancers of various levels who will be ‘angeling’ the beginners.

Yard, bake sale

OXFORD — A yard sale, bake sale and bottle drive will be held Saturday, Sept. 17, at the corner of Pottle Road and Route 26, next to Konehead Ice Cream. All proceeds benefit the Ganderia Middle School in Oxford.

OXFORD — Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met Sept. 9. A 6 table Howell movement was enjoyed. Finishing first in flight A were Della Starbird (Oxford) and Jim Dickens (Naples) who also were first in flight B. Finishing second in flight A were Dick Allen (New Gloucester) and Pete Cummings (South Paris), third were Lucille Theriault (Lewiston) and Richard Balian (Waterford).

Finishing second in flight B were Paul Kahl (Gorham) and Rick Verrill (Gorham), third were Cindy and Bob Kirchherr (South Paris) who also were first in flight C. Finishing second in flight C were Jim Krainin (Naples) and Milt McKeen (Bridgton). Third were Carol Curran (Bridgton) and Barbara Vanderzanden (Norway).

Games are held every Friday at 9:15 a.m. in the Rec Building on King Street. A partner is guaranteed. All bridge players are invited. Bridge classes will be given for those interested in assistance with their game. For more information, call Marta Clements at 674-2143.

Weary Club

NORWAY — The Weary Club with host a Saturday morning coffee hour from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at 385 Main St, next to Key Bank. All visitors are welcome.

Cemetery meeting

HARTFORD — Maple Grove Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at the Union Schoolhouse on Church Street. Members and persons of interest should attend.

The new section of the cemetery has been completed and lots have been marked out. They are now available for sale. For more information, contact president Ken Violette, secretary C. Alan Ray or treasurer Beulah Brown at 597-2073.

Hartford Historical Improvement Society will have their annual meeting at 11 a.m. at the Union Schoolhouse. This is the time to visit the only one-room school in Hartford. Old books and scrapbooks will be on display.
