A Massachusetts man accused of fatally shooting a New Gloucester woman and a friend was indicted Monday on two counts of murder.

A Cumberland County grand jury rose Friday. Joel Hayden, 29, of New Bedford, Mass. faces two counts of intentional or knowing murder.

Hayden had been arrested and held in Cumberland County Jail in connection with the shooting deaths of his girlfriend, Renee Sandora, 27, and his longtime friend, Trevor Mills, 28, of New Bedford.

Sandora was the mother of Hayden’s four children, including 3-month-old twin girls.

Sandora and Mills were both shot at Sandora’s home on Bennett Road in New Gloucester, and each died from their injuries.

Police arrested Hayden after he crashed the car he was driving in a high-speed chase.

Hayden appeared in Cumberland County Superior Court in July and had been held without bail pending his indictment.
