TURNER — The folk trio T-Acadie, which plays traditional French-Canadian and New England dance tunes, Cajun waltzes, two-steps, Cajun blues and zydeco tunes, will perform on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at the gazebo in Turner Center.

T-Acadie will also perform at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at Skye Theatre Performing Arts Center in Carthage; and at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, at Unity College Center for the Performing Arts in Unity.

Equally at home playing for concerts, contradances or Cajun dances, the trio is from coastal Maine, part of the region including the Canadian maritime provinces known as Acadia (T-Acadie means “a little Acadia”).

Band members are Pam Weeks on fiddle, mountain dulcimer, guitar, cello and vocals; Jim Joseph, button accordion, five-string banjo, mandolin, jaw harp, percussion and vocals; and Bill Olson, guitar, bass and vocals.

T-Acadie also plays old-time Southern tunes, songs often sung a cappella in three-part harmony and original tunes written by Weeks.

At the 6 p.m. concert in Turner, the trio will perform music from its new CD, “T-Acadie: By the Sea,” a collection of Maine and Acadian songs, tunes and sea shanties, spiced with a little Cajun music.

Admission is free. If it rains, the concert will be moved to Turner Center Church across the street.

At the Skye and Unity concerts, there will be a jam session 45 minutes prior to curtain when audience members can play their musical instruments with the visiting artists for a few minutes.
