PARIS — The Paris Public Library’s “Cool Chance” raffle, part of its air conditioning fundraising, has ended. Anne Smith of West Paris won the Color Nook. The winners of the other prizes were Hyla Fahsholtz, who won the Adirondack chair, Robert Grzymala, who won the Shaker end table, and Calvin and Simon Bradford, who won the gathering basket and turned wooden bowl.

The Paris Public Library’s air-conditioning campaign raised $15,000 over four months. Gagnon Heating and Air Conditioning has installed three ductless-split inverters to cool the building during the summer months and to provide heat during the spring and fall.

The library’s campaign was aided tremendously with a grant of $8,000 from the Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation, but the campaign also offered a variety of other ways for local donors to contribute. Bottle deposits at Payne’s Redemption raised more than $200, as did the donor placards. Proceeds from the “Cool Chances” raffle exceeded $700.

Many families and businesses donated $200 or more to sponsor an “ice cube” on the campaign’s fundraising thermometer. All these contributions will be recognized on a permanent plaque placed within the Soule Addition entrance.
