PARIS — Any student who plans to take his or her first higher education course at Western Maine University and Community College this fall semester should plan to attend an orientation session. At these sessions professional staff give prospective students a look at how their course will work — whether it’s an on-site, online or interactive television course (ITV) — prior to attending the first class. Staff will also provide an overview of all of the services available to students while they are in school, including tutoring, access to library resources, use of computers and more.

WMUCC will offer a New Student Orientation at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25. New students will enjoy refreshments while touring the building, and meeting other students and WMUCC staff. Students will watch a live ITV broadcast welcoming new students around the state. Topics to be discussed include ITV classroom procedures, how to contact professors, how to submit assignments, how to check grades online, how to use statewide library services and how to access many other resources available to students.

Call 743-9322 at Western Maine University College to register. Classes begin Aug. 29.
