TURNER — The 2011 fall academic classes at SAD 52 Adult and Community Education start the week of Sept. 12.
The lineup includes Algebra 1, biology, chemistry, English literature, financial literacy, US history and world history.
The district is also offering Hunter and Gun Safety or Bow Hunter Safety classes starting Sept. 6. These state-approved courses require 12 mandatory hours for certification. Children must be 10 years old and, if under 16, must be accompanied by an adult. State law requires anyone who has not held a previous hunting license must take a safety class. Sign up now because spaces fill up fast.
A Substitute Teacher Training Workshop will be held Sept. 8 and provides information about school expectations, lesson plans and more.
Rock Hound Kids Camp starts Sept. 12 for youngsters 8 to 11 years old. Students will take walking “expeditions” to find interesting types of rocks and will leave this camp with their very own labeled rock collection.
Career Exploration is a credit course that helps student understand the major areas in which their interests fall. Types of careers for these areas will be discussed as well as the next steps for taking career exploration to a deeper level.
GED prep courses are offered days and evenings.
