Tri-NY family triathlon to be held day after FUN DAY

YARMOUTH — On Saturday, Aug. 27, The Great North Yarmouth Air Show: FUN DAY 2011 will be held on the Village Green, Route 115, (adjacent to Wescustogo Hall).

Not to be confused with another midcoast air event scheduled for the same weekend, the Great(er) North Yarmouth Air Show offers a refreshing local alternative: no tickets needed, free admission, free fresh air and sunshine, and freedom from traffic jams.

This all-day event will feature several special entertainers: The Yo-Yo People, The Blues Dogz and Will Silvers, Junior World Juggling Champion, of Cumberland.

In celebration of the Air Show theme, there will be an Air Guitar contest, a Big H-air competition, participatory Air-robics and Zumba, a model helicopter demonstration, a chance to try disc throwing skills with Dragon Disc Golf and an appearance by Gordon Corbett, a NASA space ambassador for the Teachers-in-Space program.

Breakfast is served early (lighter-than-air pancakes), followed by a 9 a.m. Air Parade. All day offerings include children’s games, face painting, delicious food offerings (Air-Fare), a leapin’ dog agility demonstration, horseshoes in-the-air, vendors under an open air tent and more.

The day ends with a bean supper offered by North Yarmouth Fire & Rescue.
