TURNER —The popular annual chicken barbecue sponsored by the North Turner Presbyterian Church is slated from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, and organizers hope this year’s turnout is as good as those in years past.

The men of the church do the grilling right on the front lawn so the chicken doesn’t get any fresher. The ladies of the church put together the rest of the fun with potato salad, cole slaw, pasta salad, fruit salad and, of course, those famous desserts.

Since Maine weather, even in summer, is never predictable, the chicken barbecue is always eat-in or take-out. Call 754-7839 to place an order.

The GAR Hall is located on Route 219 about a half-mile east of the routes 4 and 219 intersection in North Turner. There is no set price for the barbecue, but donations are taken at the door. All the money raised goes to support the operational budget of the church.

Services are held each Sunday at 9 a.m. and Sunday School classes are held at the same time as worship from the middle of September until the end of May. For more information on the barbecue or church activities, call 224-7913 or 225-3370.
