FARMINGTON — A state police trooper was injured Thursday when his cruiser rolled over after he swerved to avoid a turning car in front of him on Route 43.

Trooper Jedediah “Jed” Malcore of Wilton had the cruiser’s lights and siren as he headed to an accident Weld when the crash occurred. A car driven by Megan Crandall, 35, of Wilton took a left turn into the Franklin County Animal Shelter in front of Malcore, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said.

Malcore was treated at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington for minor injuries and released, McCausland said.

The 2008 cruiser, which landed on its wheels after rolling, was demolished, he said. The accident occurred at 11:15 a.m.

Farmington police and firefighters, Franklin County sheriff’s deputies, state police and a NorthStar Emergency Management Services crew responded to assist at the scene.
