FARMINGTON — A Wilton police cruiser and a tractor-trailer collided Thursday afternoon on routes 2 and 4, just east of the Wilton line, Farmington police secretary Bonnie Pomeroy said.

Wilton officer Brad Timberlake, 25, of Jay, was heading west toward Wilton,  had pulled into the breakdown lane and was making a U-turn, according to officer William Tanner’s accident report, Pomeroy said.

The tractor-trailer behind it, driven by Mark Littlehale, 25, of Wilton, continued to go around the cruiser, assuming Timberlake had just pulled over, she said.

The tractor-trailer hit the rear corner of the driver’s side of the cruiser with the front driver’s side of the truck, Pomeroy said. The cruiser did not have its blue lights on, she said.

Timberlake complained of pain in the neck area, she said, and Littlehale was not injured.

The accident was reported at 5:50 p.m.

Wilton interim police Chief Richard Billian Jr. said Thursday that he is waiting on estimates to determine if the 2009 Chevrolet Impala can be repaired.

The 2010 Kenworth is owned and registered to JL Brochu of Stratton.
